History Day

This year the Rocky Mountain Middle School had the exciting opportunity to participate in the National History Day competitions. (Mr. Baxendale was the sponsor)

Throughout the school year students found time to plan, research, and construct their projects, and by the time of the regional competition Rocky Mountain Middle School was proud to send five students, presenting two projects.

Four of our sixth grade students;Addison Krampart, Brooklin Heron, Kaylie Watts, and Finnley Weinand, banded together to create a documentary about Amber Alerts, and how its creation and use was a turning point in US society. Additionally, we had a seventh grade student, Grant Weierman, who wrote an essay about World War I General John J Pershing and how his efforts were a turning point for the US military.

Rocky Mountain Middle School was represented well by these five participants in Greybull. Overall, while the students were nervous, they had an incredibly positive experience being a part of this wonderful opportunity. They had so much fun participating in the event, and while that alone would have been good enough, we were blessed to bring some hardware back with us. Grant Weierman's essay won first place for the category of Junior Essay, and he will have the opportunity to attend the state competition down in Laramie in April.

Great job kids! We are proud of you!
